Our Equality Action Groups are created with the intention to bring together colleagues from across the university to contribute and challenge, reinforce and recognise the on-going commitment of ºìÐÓÊÓƵ to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
About our Action Groups
Equality Action Groups are created with the intention to bring together colleagues from across the university to contribute and challenge, reinforce and recognise the on-going commitment of ºìÐÓÊÓƵ to equality, diversity, and inclusion. Following the appointment of staff equality champions, student equality champions, and the reformation of the Equality and Diversity Sub-committee and Forum (EDSC & EDF), it is our vision to foster staff and student engagements to make everyone working, studying, or visiting our campus to feel welcomed, respected, valued and included as well as ensuring that our policies, procedures and processes are fair, transparent and clear.
Activities
- Create safe spaces for meaningful discussions and honest conversations.
- Raise issues that are peculiar to relevant protected characteristics.
- Report into and make recommendations to the Equality and Diversity Forum (EDF) through the appointed Equality Champion.
- Consider as a priority the use of language around specific equality strand and make recommendations about appropriate terms and terminology.
- Identify emerging issues that might require future action/attention.
- Contribute to and inform university EDI related guidance, policies, and processes.
- Champion the active promotion of equality on campus through contributions to EDI events and activities and working in partnership with student champions, groups and networks to share best practice.
