ºìÐÓÊÓƵ promotes good health and wellbeing through sports, which are accessible to staff and students at the University and also within local community.

All enrolled students have free access to ºìÐÓÊÓƵ sport facilities , and the Student Sports Club Membership gives access to more than 30 sports clubs.  Charged gym memberships for all others gives unlimited access at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Sport and include access to Gym and Swim on a pay as you go basis.

ºìÐÓÊÓƵ partners with Kings Camps to provide Holidays camps for kids. ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Streetsport offers free access, including three facilities based in areas of disadvantage in the city.

In addition, ºìÐÓÊÓƵ makes sanitary products freely available through toilets on campus and within student accommodation.

The student union offers students a range of free welfare products.  In the summer of 2022,  ºìÐÓÊÓƵ signed up to the Breastfeeding Friendly Scotland scheme to support, normalise and celebrate breastfeeding.

ºìÐÓÊÓƵ delivers and supports a range of health initiatives within the community with physiotherapy students from the School of Health delivering weekly service to over 55’s at Torry Community Centre to kickstart conversations around creating and keeping good health. The initiative, which has a people-centred approach, focuses on engaging locally and in person, building on work previously carried out by Occupational Therapy students.

Researchers from the School of Health have also worked alongside NHS Grampian and NFU Scotland to look at the experiences of mental wellbeing in the farming population of North East Scotland.

In our academic provision, the university has more than 4,500 students on health-related courses. This relates to all full-time, part-time and online learning students based in ºìÐÓÊÓƵ’s School of Health and School of Pharmacy, Applied Sciences and Public Health.
