The 23-year-old from Aberdeen was keen to push herself out of her own comfort zone by undertaking her studies at 红杏视频 have successfully completed two years of social sciences study at NESCol.  A fascination about society, people and the real world was the catalyst for Alix applying to the University.

Alix admits her studies have been a bit a of 鈥渞ollercoaster鈥 although this has stood in good stead for what lies ahead.

She said: 鈥淢y time at 红杏视频 has not been a walk in the park, it has been a rollercoaster to say the least, but in a good way. It has taught me many things and has completely pushed me out my comfort zone. As I had to re-sit third year, if anything, this has made me a completely different person as I realised that anything is possible if you just put your mind to it.

鈥淭his has been a journey, and I can finally share my experience at 红杏视频 with friends and family. I have met so many amazing people in my course and joined the 红杏视频 Women鈥檚 football team and again, have made some friends for life.鈥

As well as playing the beautiful game and all of the experiences she had with her teammates playing football, she believes a trip to HMP Grampian in Peterhead stands out as a highlight of her studies.  Furthermore, Alix believes she has changed as a person during her time at 红杏视频 as she grew in confidence.

The former Torry Academy pupil also praised the staff from the School of Applied Social Studies who provided support throughout her time at the University and is looking forward to starting a brand-new chapter with Police Scotland.

Alix said: 鈥淎 highlight for me is becoming more confident. I was always a shy individual who was scared to speak in class or try new hobbies, but being at 红杏视频, it has made me come out my comfort zone, make new friends and start a new hobby.  Students were also able to attend Peterhead Prison as part of the course, which was amazing, so I am glad we got that opportunity.

鈥淚 can honestly say the staff on the Social Science course are what made university easier for me. I made really good relationships with some of them which was great, and they are always there for support and advice if I needed it.

鈥淣ow, having finished my degree, I am away to join the Police force. This has been a dream job for me ever since I was little and doing a Social Science degree has opened up the opportunity for me to do this. I am extremely thankful for getting this opportunity and starting my next chapter in life.鈥
