As part of his award, Lawson will receive a certificate and two years鈥� free student membership of the . 

The IET Prize is awarded annually to outstanding students who are completing a course of study which has been accredited by the IET. Prize winners are nominated by their university based on having shown distinction in their course leading to the award of a first degree. 

Lawson said, "After what can only be described as a tough final year, I am proud to say that all of my hard work has paid off, and I am extremely grateful to have been awarded the IET Prize for my work studying in the School of Engineering. I would like to take this opportunity thank my friends and family, alongside the academic staff at 红杏视频 for their continued support throughout my time at University".

Lawson will graduate in July with a BEng (Hons) Electronic and Electrical Engineering degree, having received straight A鈥檚 across all modules in his final year. Dr Sam Burgess from 红杏视频 commended Lawson鈥檚 achievement, 鈥淎s the Academic Strategic Lead for the Electrical Discipline in the School of Engineering, I am incredibly proud of Lawson's achievement. Aside from being a straight A student, he was very active in extra curricular activities during his time at 红杏视频 and has been an excellent ambassador for both his course and the University. He truly deserves this recognition from our professional accrediting body and has a bright future ahead of him in electronic and electrical engineering.鈥�
