The Physiotherapy Clinic at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ is back

The Physio Clinic
The Physiotherapy Clinic at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ was one of the university’s services which was significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, due to the nature of what was involved in providing such a hands-on service to clients.

However, after considerable behind-the-scenes work, which has seen the appointment of two new members of staff, Rory Jack and Stuart Johnston, who are both Chartered Physiotherapist and members of the Health Care Practitioners Council (HCPC), The Physiotherapy Clinic at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ is now open for ºìÐÓÊÓƵ staff.

Stuart Johnston, who joins ºìÐÓÊÓƵ from NHS Grampian, outlines what has changed and what clients might expect from the Clinic when the doors open.

“In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have had to make some significant changes to our service to ensure our patients, staff and wider community are as safe as possible, while being able to offer an excellent service.

“Firstly, we will operate on a ‘virtual first approach’. This means that your first appointment will be done remotely through Zoom videocalls. From there, we can advise you on your situation and an appropriate course of action. This will typically include guidance on how you can better manage your situation and an individualised exercise-based rehabilitation plan.

“If your case can be managed effectively through remote appointments this will be the continued mode of delivery until such time as we are able to offer more face-to-face appointments. This is dependent on updated guidance from the Scottish government, the Chartered Society of Physiotherapist and the university.

“We are in a position to offer limited face-to-face appointment for those whose case requires an in-person assessment. However, a face-to-face appointment will only be offered following an initial videocall assessment with our physiotherapist. It is our hope that in the not so distant future we can resume a service that allows easier access to the clinic in person and a more traditional approach to physiotherapy.

“We look forward to welcoming you to the clinic, whether virtually, or in person, soon.â€
