You can help us with Public Engagement at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ!

By Laura Chalmers, Head of the Centre for Employability and Community Engagement - 23 January 2024

We want to let you know about a new award that ºìÐÓÊÓƵ is applying for...

ºìÐÓÊÓƵ is working with the National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE), an organisation which promotes and recognises the public engagement activities of universities. The term public engagement covers a range of types of engagement, including civic and community engagement, engaged teaching, knowledge exchange, public engagement with research and social and civic responsibility.

ºìÐÓÊÓƵ have applied for the Engage Watermark, a charter mark recognising outstanding commitment to supporting and improving public and community engagement. The Engage Watermark is a national award granted to higher education institutions, research centres and individual faculties or schools.

The University’s commitment to public engagement is integral to its strategic mission to transform people and communities by contributing to economic, social, and cultural development and environmental sustainability. Staff and research students across our campus can help us achieve this award. Providing you are a member of staff or a research student, all we need you to do is please ,

The survey results will enable us to get a broader understanding of how staff and students view ºìÐÓÊÓƵ’s public engagement activities and how we can improve and develop our work in this area in the future, this is essential knowledge that forms part of the overall award assessment criteria. This is a valuable process for ºìÐÓÊÓƵ as an institution and it shows we are listening to our community, so please support us if you can!

If you’d like to know more about the award application or the survey, please get in touch with me by email.
