Clinical Investigations and Interventions
This course aims to develop practitioners knowledge of key clinical investigations including; Blood tests and analysis, Arterial Blood Gas analysis, ECG analysis and the fundamentals of X-Ray interpretation.
The course will be delivered through online workshops at set times.
The sessions will cover:
- Interpret clinical history taking and examination findings to form differential diagnosis.
- Decision making and rationale for investigating disease.
- The underpinning evidence base of investigations.
- Synthesise results in relation to wellbeing and patient outcomes.
- Management strategies to correct abnormalities.

Learning Methods
This module is delivered online via our Virtual Learning Environment Moodle.
Assessment
Assessment is a written examination. This will be conducted using Moodle Quiz.
Independent Study
Students should allow 5 hours per week over ten weeks for independent study prior to the assessment.
Staff Delivering on This Course
The majority of the delivery will be by lecturers who are qualified ANPS with a wide range of Primary and Secondary care experience. In additions, there may be some input where appropriate from subject specialists within practice and other university departments.

The Library offers support for your course, including the books, eBooks, and journals you will need. We also offer online reading lists for many modules, workshops and drop-ins on searching skills and referencing, and much more.
Career Prospects
This module is suitable for registered nurses, midwives and health and social care professionals.
Normally, applicants are expected to be able to demonstrate degree level study, however, if this is not the case, interested individuals are encouraged to make contact and discuss their circumstances.
